Student workshop logo results: Skyview Safari Park

On 11th July, Amy visited a local secondary school to deliver a creative branding workshop as part of their careers day.

We’ve already shared a bit about the day and what team 1 and team 2 created. In this post, we’ll reveal what team 3 designed!

Each group was given an information pack filled with bios, ideas from their client’s customer persona sheets, questions to help them discover their business’ USP and more. The challenge was to create a logo, colour palette and set of fonts that pleased the client and suited the target audience.

The students fed back at the end of the day:

“This challenge was really interactive and enjoyable, something unique and I haven’t done this before”

“The skills and tasks we were given were fantastic! Very interactive and helped us to practise teamwork skills. It was very entertaining”

“I really enjoyed working (and appreciated) being able to work with such inspiring people like Amy”

“A really thought provoking and inspiring experience. Thank you”

Below you can read about the business team 3 was given: Skyview Safari Park and then you can see what they came up with! At the end of this post, we’ve brought their final idea to life digitally so you can see their vision in the most real way possible.

Team 3: Skyview Safari Park

Tourists and travelers will discover a unique and awe-inspiring attraction, while school groups and educational institutions will appreciate the park’s educational programs and valuable learning opportunities.

The client’s initial ideas:

Animals and adventure
It could be cool to have something that combines elements of animals and adventure. Perhaps something that includes a bird soaring above animals, or something that includes one of our adventure zipline ropes. We will have lots of animals at the park so you can choose any animal(s) to suit the logo.

Minimalist
If you think it would appeal to our target customer, it would be nice to see an idea of something more minimal. Perhaps using negative space or bold typography to make an impact.

Client’s likes and dislikes:
We love colour - our animals have beautiful and colourful markings and they are surrounded by colourful plants in their habitats! We like logos that are memorable, we want to stand out and stay in people’s minds. We’d like our logo to tell our story.

Team 3’s moodboard:

One of team 3’s ideas:

What the students said about this idea:

“This idea is made captivating through the use of bright and uplifting colours as well as negative space in the wings. We chose red for the wings as it creates a tone of action which would appeal to an audience seeking adventure. The bold colour of the wings contrasts the calmer background blue. We chose a falcon as they are thrill-seeking and adventurous and link to the theme of ‘roar and soar’.”

Team 3’s second idea (chosen by client):

After testing a couple of concepts and getting feedback from the client, team 2 finalised the logo (in two variations) you can see above. They were keen to use colours that represented adventure for the ziplines as well as including animal prints and a paw shape to represent the safari animals.

What the students said about their design:

“This logo features a bold and playful design, with appealing colours. It includes the unique skyline adventure course above the safari. It incorporates animal prints and a sunset to represent the safari’s beauty. The zebra and leopard print show the safari’s wide range of animals and togetherness. The bear print used as a central part of the logo alongside the ‘roar and soar’ course show the unity between the safari and the thrills. The colours used represent adventure, nature, and bravery. The sans serif font was used to show the boldness of the safari park. This logo was all together made to represent the safari’s unique features and show its positive differences from alternative safaris to boost popularity and stay memorable to the customers.”

Taking their sketch, we’ve digitised team 3’s logo and icon and brought them to life:

Extra ideas!

It doesn’t stop there. Once the logo was finalised, they spent some time brainstorming ideas for social media posts and a safari map. Take a look below at some of the ideas they came up with:
